Williams Gallagher is appointed by Glenbrook Property to advise in connection with its emerging proposals for Station Street in Birmingham.
The site includes the previous home of The Electric cinema, along with a mix of other commercial uses that occupy a range of 4-6 storey buildings. The urban block contained by Station Street, Dudley Street, Hinkley Street and Hill Street lacks crucial socio-economic activity despite its prominent central location, proximity to a major transport hub and being home to three of Birmingham’s significant cultural assets. The site surroundings are considered to provide an exciting opportunity for a new cultural hub anchored by a thriving independent cinema that reinvigorates the area, acting as a catalyst for further investment and attraction to the area.
The creation of a cultural hub will be supported by a critical mass of people that would occupy a proposed residential tower, partially subsidising investment at the ground floor level in order to achieve something special for the benefit of Birmingham and the Site’s immediate surroundings that include the listed Crown pub and The Old Rep Theatre.
